Overview
A Sheffield plate tea urn with spirit burner, made in England about 1800. The covered oval urn is on a stand with a spirit burner and a simple tap projects from the base of the urn. There are fluted decorations on the urn, cover and burner. It has four curved legs which end in toed feet and two handles attached to male bearded masks. There is light gadrooning on the edge of the base and on the top edge of the urn. The tap is decorated with narrow grooves and has a green handle on a curved lever. The urn is engrav ed on the silver escutcheon with the initials "CE" [for Charles Elgar, husband of Ella Grace Elgar], which has been applied over the original coat of arms.
