Overview
Example of a Ministry of Transport Traffic Officer decorative badge. Silver coloured metal badge with green, red and black enamel on the front. In the centre of the badge there is a silver circle with a green enamel band around the outside edge with 'MINISTRY /OF TRANSPORT' in silver within it. In the middle of the circle is a double hulled canoe with a sail on the sea with four large stars in the sky. On the top of this circle is a silver crown with red and black enamel. On the left is a winged silver horse. On the right is a silver kiwi. Both the horse and the kiwi are standing on top of a silver edged green enamel banner that runs under the circle across the bottom of the badge. On the banner is 'TRAFFIC OFFICER'. Between the horse, the kiwi and the banner and the silver circle there is black enamel. On the back is a double post clasp with gold coloured metal butterfly clasps. '56' has been stamped on the back.
