Example of a Waitaki Girls High School Prefect decorative badge. Shield shaped gold coloured metal badge with red, black and yellow enamel on the front. On the banner at the top of the shield in gold on a black enamel background is 'PREFECT'. On the shield in the top left in gold on a red enamel background is a 'W G H S' all entwined and printed over each other. From the bottom left to the top right is a gold bordered panel and in gold on yellow enamel within the panel is 'DULCIUS EX ARDUIS'. On the bottom right of the shield are gold bordered red enamel and black enamel vertical stripes. On the back is a double post clasp.
