Overview
Tïvaevae manu (embroidered quilts) are made from cut-out shapes, mostly floral, sewn on a single-colour background.
The pattern on this tïvaevae manu is called riri (lily). The backing is a queen-size sheet, commonly used because it saves having to sew lengths of casement cloth together. The backing is edged with white embroidery cotton.
The maker of this quilt, Teetu Kawenga, comes from Tokoroa in the central North Island.
