Overview

This kahu kiwi feather cloak has a foundation of muka (NZ flax fibre) lined with red fabric. The aho (weft) rows are in whatu aho rua (double pair weft twining) technique.

Te Papa's bicultural science researcher, Hokimate Harwood, has identified 12 small bunches of huia feathers across the cloak, a very exciting find.
