Overview
A new head of state
This proclamation was issued after the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. It announced Edward as King and, as such, New Zealand’s and Niue’s new head of state. Niue had become a dependent territory of New Zealand earlier in the year.
Acquisition History
This proclamation was acquired from the Cook Islands Department 29 September 1931. At this time the department was resposible for New Zealand's colonial administration of the Cook islands and Niue.
