Overview
Carpenters router plane.
Owned and used by Mr Godfrey Jansen (1912-1998) since his time as a carpenter's apprentice in the Netherlands. Mr Jansen brought the tools to New Zealand in 1939.
Mr Jansen was one of a group of five Dutch carpenters who arrived in New Zealand in June 1939. This was the first organised group of Dutch migrants to come here, the forerunners of the massive postwar Dutch migration to New Zealand. Mr Jansen, who died on 23 December 1998, was the last survivor of this group.
