This tall, clear glass bottle has moulded lettering on the neck reading 'Registered Trade Mark Purity' and on the base is 'the property of Thomsons Ltd Dunedin ...'
Thomsons Ltd began producing cordials and aerated waters in 1866, and their impressive three-story factory, built a decade later, was a very prominent feature of the Dunedin city scape in the late nineteenth century. Thomsons Ltd traded on their reputation for purity and quality, promising consumers that their products contained 'NO ADULTERATION OR CHEMICALS OF ANY KIND.'
