Overview
A well carved weaving peg displaying two pairs of figures embracing with bodies intertwined, decorated with fine rauponga pattern carving and paua shell insert eyes. Pairs of weaving pegs, such as these, were fixed in the ground to support the woven garment.
At the time of acquisition this weaving peg had an old label attached that read, "Lent by C. H. Chapman to the society for the Propagation of the Gospel for the Croydon Exhibition 1833."
