Overview
This free-standing cupboard, which features an internal shelf, is made from packing case timber. It has been painted cream and lined with two different patterned wallpapers and linoleum. Underneath is a packing case label "20 MULES BRAND" in red letters with a picture of a mule team pulling a cart.
There cupboard has two catches - an original toggle and knob in brass and steel on left hand side of the door, and what appears to be a straightened coat hook on the door frame. The 'shield' panel on the door is 3-ply that has been varnished and nailed to a pine packing case lid. The maker has used both copper and steel wire nails with flat cross-hatched heads. Some of the timber has been hand planed and some has been rough sawn on a band saw.
