Overview
Man's top hat with oval crown and brim, the brim slightly upcurved at the sides and bound with black grosgrain (petersham) ribbon. The crown slightly flared out at the upper and flat-topped. With an eyelet-like device to the centre of the crown, probably to hold a button. With a fine felted wool band to the lower part of the crown. The hat is formed of fine cork with an outer layer of (silk velvet).
