Overview
This chair is the handmade pre-production prototype of the 'Safari' leather chair [Design 304] which remained in production for 12 years. It was designed by Peder Hansen for Taraire Crafts.
The chair was selected for exhibition in the 1968 Rothman's Industrial Design Awards Exhibition which travelled New Zealand by train in 1968. One table and four chairs of similar design were selected to furnish the New Zealand Pavilion at Expo '70, Osaka, Japan.
