Bench file

This bench file, by an unknown maker, was formerly owned by Henry J. Freeman, a jeweller and watchmaker in Wellington in the late nineteenth century. This is a small circular metal file, that is tapered towards the end. This file is noticeably rusty. There are no inscriptions. Files like this one were used to smooth away rough and sharp edges and other imperfections.
