Bench file

This bench file, made by G. Antoine Glardon, was formerly owned by Henry J. Freeman, a jeweller and watchmaker in Wellington in the late nineteenth century. This is a triangular-shaped metal file, with a square handle. It is inscribed with 'Switzerland', 'Glantoine GLARDON Vallore', and '5'. Files like this one were used to smooth away rough and sharp edges and other imperfections.
