Overview

This one piece afternoon dress is made from a leno weave wool fabric, printed with a vibrant paisley design. The dress features fashionable pagoda sleeves and a flounced skirt, and is trimmed with green silk fringing.

Intriguingly, the cotton lining of the dress features front fastenings, while the dress itself fastens at the back. The lining suggests that originally the dress opened at the front for nursing, and was later stitched closed.

The dress is part of the Phyllis Cousins collection.
