Overview
This fringed, cream silk 'Canton' shawl is embroidered with floss silk and features bouquets of flowers and all over serpetine pattern of stems and leaves in pastel colours with some orange. The voiding and and shading very typical of Chinese embroidery.
It was brought to brought to New Zealand from Scotland by Mrs. Cornfoot (b. 1872-1963).
