Andries Stock
Overview
Jacob de Gheyn II (also Jacques de Gheyn II) was a Dutch painter and engraver, whose work shows the transition from Northern Mannerism to Dutch realism over the course of his career. He is credited with creating over 1,500 drawings, including landscapes (as here) and natural history illustrations. This engraving depicts a landscape of rocky outcrops, and is the last in a series of six. The likely engraver was Andries Jacobsz. Stock, after an original drawing by de Gheyn.
