Overview
Te Papa has the complete set of Eight Landscapes by Naiwinx in its collection, which all depict Italianate landscapes. In the lower left of this etching a small wooden bridge transverses rapids in a stream. In the distance a spectacularly tall, flat peak of rock extends into the puffy clouds. The right of the image depicts rolling hills, with large trees and to the far right another rocky peak. The set of etchings was presented to the Colonial Museum by Bishop Ditlev Monrad in 1869 and forms part of Te Papa's foundation art collection.
