Overview
Bone Stone Shell: Hamish Campbell
Hamish Campbell’s trio of pendants distil horse, fish, and owl to their essence. He constructed each from segments of carved bone, integrating the technical challenge of joining the pieces, and the placement of the suspension cord, into his designs.
A self-taught carver, Campbell began working with bone in 1978. His first solo exhibition, Contact, opened at Auckland’s Fingers gallery in 1986.
