Overview
This pair of child’s Chinese shoes is made of a sea-green silk and is decorated with embroidered flowers. The shoes are open at the back and the edges are trimmed with black piping. They fasten at the back with two red ribbons, and have black fabric soles.
The shoes are part of a set of Chinese clothing worn by Betty Campbell when she was a child living in China with her parents who were missionaries there. Betty became a significant Wellingtonian and national community leader. She received a MBE for her ceaseless community work.
