Overview
This pickle dish, by an unknown maker, was formerly owned by Mayer & Kean Ltd, a jewellery-making company operating in Wellington from 1912. It is a circular, white ceramic pickle dish. It is shaped like a bowl with a pouring lip. There is dark discolouration over three quarters of the dish.
Pickle dishes were used in metalworking to wash objects in water or acid before further work could be done on them. The most common use was to wash away the Borax on objects after soldering.
