Overview
Studio portrait of David Ashworth, one of 10 survivors of the General Grant, a ship filled with gold that was wrecked off the Auckland group of sub-Antarctic islands. The survivors were shipwrecked for 18 months on a deserted island before being rescued. David Ashworth drowned three years later on a return expedition trying to retrieve the gold from the sunken wreck of the General Grant.
