Darlington Statement badge

This badge was made in conjunction with the Darlington Statement which was released in March 2017. The upraised clenched fist is the symbol of power, strength and solidarity. It is embraced by the intersex symbol, which is a purple circle against a bright yellow background.

The Darlington Statement is a joint statement by Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand intersex community organisations and independent advocates. It sets out the priorities and calls by the intersex human rights movement in both countries, including human rights and legal reform, health and wellbeing, peer support, allies, education, awareness and employment.

This badge belonged to New Zealand intersex educator and counsellor Mani Bruce Mitchell (MNZM) who worked on the Darlington Statement.
