Overview
This white pine butter mould is comprised of a slightly tapered wooden cylinder, into which is placed a wooden disk mould carved with a thistle design. The disk has a wooden handle attached, so the mould can be moved up and down the cylinder. Butter moulds or stamps were used to shape freshly-churned butter into dainty shapes for the table.
