Overview
This badge belonged to Elspeth Mary McCullum Withers (nee Simpson, 1927-2011, Aotearoa New Zealand). She was a member of the New Zealand Camellia Society, which promotes interest in growing and exhibiting camellias, and provides fellowship among gardeners. The Society was founded in 1957.
Elspeth grew up on her family's farm 'Ongo' near Hunterville, and was a keen floral designer from childhood. In 1935 when seven years old, she won a prize for her floral buttonhole at a flower show in Hunterville. The following year she won for her snapdragons.
