Overview
This badge given out at the annual LGBTQI+ event Out in the City, held in the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington, on 27 March 2021.
The badge features the logo of the New Zealand’s largest union, the Public Service Association Te Pūkenga Here Tikanga Mahi (PSA), over a rainbow representing OUT @ PSA which is a network for PSA union members who identify as non-binary, gay, lesbian, intersex, transgender, takataapui, fa'afafine or bisexual.
The network promotes respectful, diverse and inclusive workplaces and public services. Members of OUT @ PSA attend LGBTQI+ events and activities such as Big Gay Out in Auckland and Wellington Pride.
OUT @ PSA convener Nicholas (Nico) Haustein (they/them) reported in 2021: ‘The Out Network was created specifically to improve the well-being of Rainbow public service workers and to ensure our voices are heard. Therefore, we take a particular interest in the welfare of our rainbow members at work and issues impacting our communities more widely. We want workplaces where our members can bring their whole selves to work safely, and with dignity, free from risk and prejudice’ (PSA OUT at PSA Network).
