Overview
White Ribbons represent the global campaign led by men to end violence against women. White Ribbon Day is held on 25 November when people wear white ribbons to show they do not condone violence towards women.
The White Ribbon movement began in Canada in 1991. The campaign was introduced to New Zealand by UNIFEM (the United Nations Development Fund for Women) in 2004. The Families Commission became the lead agency in 2006. In 2014 the White Ribbon Trust took over the responsibility for the campaign.
