Overview
This is an original design by the Post Office Publicity Section for NZ post's 1960 pictorial seven pence stamp. It features a photograph of a flowering bush orchid, over which has been laid a plastic sheets with the following type set:
'7D / BUSH ORCHID / 'NEW ZEALAND' in white.
The design is mounted on a rectangular piece of wood, and matted in black card with a white border around the image.
The reverse features the following inscriptions:
In ink: 'Pterostylis (genus), banksii (species) / (i) Hooded orchid / (ii) Elf's hood / (iii) Tutukiwi'
In pencil: '1960 Pictorial / Not used'
A design featuring flowerin koromiko was selected for the seven pence stamp.
