Overview
These two amo (upright posts) are from a carved ancestral house that stood at Murupara, in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island. They are carved in the Mataatua style and depict tribal ancestors.
Photographic record
The original house was photographed in about 1886, and identified in an album belonging to Joshua Morgan, a government surveyor. The album is now held by the Rotorua Museum.
