Overview
This miniature rugby ball is a souvenir of the 1924-25 All Blacks tour of the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Canada. It is signed by members of the touring team.
The ball belonged to David Gray, who was a member of the official tour party. Gray was responsible for looking after the coin for the toss and the kiwi mascot that travelled with the team.
The 1924-25 All Blacks touring team won all 32 of its overseas games. Nicknamed ‘The Invincibles,’ the team scored 838 points and conceded only 116. It is still remembered as one of the greatest All Blacks sides of all time, and was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
