Overview
This Women's Liberation singlet was worn by Diane Reidie in the 1970s. She wore it to feminist events such as a pro-choice talk by Dr Erich Geiringer in Invercargill. With his wife Dr Carol Shand, Reidie remembers Dr Geiringer being a provocative and controversial speaker at pro-abortion gatherings.
The singlet features the radical feminist symbol of the 1960s-1970s which combines two symbols: the clenched fist of solidarity within the symbol for the Roman Goddess Venus, commonly accepted as the female symbol.
