Overview
These woollen gloves were purchased for Glenda Gale when she was approximately four or five years old. Glenda was raised by her mother Nancy Rule, who worked as a cook and postal worker to support the family. While Nancy was at work Glenda’s grandmother Maudie looked after her. Nancy always made sure that Glenda had the things she needed, and was determined that her daughter should not feel disadvantaged by having a sole parent. When Glenda grew out of the gloves her mother kept them, and they were included in a small collection of objects she treasured throughout her life.
