Overview
Although now seriously disturbed this mummified ibis package originally would have conformed to Type 2 where the head and bill of the Ibis were placed along the left side of the body close to the wing. As in Type 1, in Type 2 the legs were bent forward with claws extended and closely pressed against the ventral surface of the body. After dessication in Natron the bird was wrapped with several layers of linen so that when complete the mummy had a somewhat cone-shaped form with rounded ends.
