Overview
The design of this wallpaper by John Henry Dearle (1859-1932) for Morris & Co. dates to 1892, but this particular reproduction was probably printed in 1975-79 by the British firm Sanderson which bought Morris & Co. wallpapers and fabrics in 1940.
The wallpaper features a pattern of blackthorn, which produces clouds of white flowers in early spring and dark fruits (from which sloe gin is made), red snake's head fritillaries, daisies and violets.
