Overview
Sasha Gibbon wore this tutu for her end of year Ballet concert - Thumbelina. Sasha loves dancing and took up ballet when she was five years old, but 2015 was to be her last year - she decided ballet wasn't for her. Even so, she still dances at home to pop music.
This dance costume is part of a group of objects collected to represent some of the key moments and everyday life of six year old Sasha, who is a participant in Te Papa's Collecting Childhood project. This is an ongoing project that includes children in the University of Auckland's Growing Up in New Zealand research.
