Rag doll pyjama bag

This pyjama bag belonged to Claire Regnault when she was a child in the 1970s. The pjyama bag, which she named 'Sally', was a Christmas present, bought from the local church Christmas fair which was packed with home-crafted items. Claire remembers going to the fair in Palmerston North every year to buy Christmas presents.

Home-crafted items like this were popular in the mid to late 20th century. Many people did home-sewing and knitting for fundraising events at churches, schools, kindergartens and for charities throughout the country.
