Domino Stars set

This set of Domino Stars by Countdown supermarkets was collected by Austin Wang. Austin loves collecting and has lots of sets of different types of collectables including Pikachu cards, Z’s blockheads, and Pokémon cards of which he has three different sets including a special set from China.

Many New Zealand children have been busy collecting free giveaways from supermarkets and other retail outlets throughout the country. It has become one of the ways retailers have been fostering customer loyalty. The Domino Stars were given out at Countdown supermarkets when customers spent $20 or more. The covers were purchased separately.

The Domino Stars set features Disney Pixar film characters from a variety of films, hugely popular with children. Included are Toy Story, Brave, Finding Nemo, Cars, Monsters, Inc., A Bugs Life and their latest film Inside Out.

Austin selected this set as a participant in Te Papa’s Collecting Childhood project. As part of this project Austin and other children share their daily lives with us and donate items that represent key moments or the things they like doing.
