Overview
This T-shirt features the radical feminist symbol embedded within the call ‘Repeal the Abortion Laws’. The Women’s National Abortion Action Campaign (WONAAC) was formed in July 1973 to bring the various pro-choice groups under a national umbrella. Its aim was to repeal all abortion laws, particularly as the law became more restrictive with the passing of the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act in December 1977.
The bright orange of the T-shirt may have been chosen by the wearer to gain attention. To save money, WONAAC screen-printed members’ own T-shirts.
