Overview
This identity bracelet is part of a small group of objects from Luca Gibbon. The hospital band was worn on his foot when he was born. It documents the fact he was a twin and it is also a reminder of his small size at birth.
Luca is a participant in Te Papa's collecting contemporary childhood project done in partnership with the 'Growing Up in New Zealand' research at the University of Auckland. The objects collected from Luca and his twin sister are illustrative of several strands highlighted by the project's 'Now We Are Born' 2012 report, including the family's emphasis on childhood education. Like 36.4% of the population Luca attends a day care centre, he also has access to books, is read to regularly at home and has access to a computer.
