Overview
This contraceptive device is a vaginal ring called a NuvaRing. It is a soft, thin ring of silastic (a type of plastic) containing hormones. The ring is placed in the vagina and slowly releases the hormones to prevent pregnancy. It is inserted for 3 weeks, then removed for one week to allow for menstruation.
