No blood for oil badge

This badge is about the invasion of Iraq in 2003 led by the United States of America. 'No Blood for Oil' was a slogan featured on placards and badges in demonstrations around the world leading up to the invasion, and throughout the early years of the occupation as global opposition to it grew.

 

The slogan originated in the United States during the Vietnam War in the 1960s, and was later employed in the first Gulf War (1991) which was officially about restoring Kuwait’s sovereignty, but many activists believed it was also about protecting US access to oil and business interests in the countries bordering the Persian Gulf.
