Overview
This postcard is a souvenir of a victory parade of Dominion forces held in London on 3 May 1919 at the end of the First World War. It was acquired by New Zealand soldier
Leonard Maxwell Morrison (1897-1974).Morrison worked as a clerk in Dunedin before enlisting to serve in the First World War in 1918. His first known rank was Lance Corporal in A Company, 38th Reinforcements (serial number 74677). He left from Wellington on the transport ship Remuera on 5 June 1918.
Morrison was poisoned by gas while serving in France in the last months of the war. He survived and went on to take part in the occupation of Germany in 1919 after the Armistice was signed in November 1918. He probably took part in the London parade and brought this postcard home as a souvenir.
