Overview
The banner was created by the Campaign for Marriage Equality which recycled two covers created by Time magazine on 8 April 2013, adding the words 'Love is patient, love is kind, same love'.
The Campaign for Marriage Equality was a nation-wide coalition of supporters and groups to promote marriage equality in New Zealand (the Civil Union Act 2004 had achieved partial equality only).
The signatories on the banner include members of the parliamentary cross party working group: Tau Henare, Grant Robertson, Kevin Hague, Maryan Street, Jan Logie, Louisa Wall. The signatures of Andrew Burns, Megan Campbell and Conrad Reyners (Campaign for Marriage Equality) are also included.
On Monday 19 August 2013 everyone became equal under New Zealand's marriage law, with the first LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex) marriages taking place that day throughout New Zealand, including at Te Papa.
