New Zealand Red Cross Inc.; commissioner; 2012; New Zealand
Overview
This vest was worn by New Zealand Red Cross Outreach Volunteer Robbie Drew in Christchurch during 2012. Robbie volunteers 3 to 4 days a week to help residents with earthquake recovery. His work has included knocking on doors of residents in the Orange Zone, helping solo parents find the right resources they need, and delivering Winter Warmer Packs.
'When people see us in our Red Cross uniforms you see a look of relief on their faces, Red Cross has such a powerful healing significance, it's great to be able to help' (Robbie Drew, 2012).
There are more than 90 Red Cross volunteers throughout Christchurch. Not only do they bring relief to people on a daily basis, their observations of local trends are important to overall strategic planning for the Red Cross.
