Book, 'Spontaneous Memorials to Christchurch'

This book documents the many 'spontaneous memorials' that appeared throughout Christchurch after the devastating Canterbury earthquake of 22 February 2011.

Massey University Honours student Amanda Gilchrist had been researching examples of spontaneous memorials overseas following on from her 'I love Christchurch because' chalkboard project.

She realised that many of these types of memorials were present in Christchurch, and that they played a role in the grieving process and were the 'voice' of the community. She created this book of photographs as a tribute to these memorials.
