Overview
These Fischer skis were made for recreational skiing. Their product name 'Vacuum' refers to a manufacturing process patented by Fischer which claimed superior delamination resistance. They were considered good quality recreational skis with the latest Marker bindings which provided a high degree of injury protection.
These particular skis were acquired by the donor, Ian Mardell, through his business, Alpine Centre in Wellington, and were used by him on Turoa skifield, Mt Ruapehu until 2004.They represent the type of straight-cut skis commonly seen on mountains from the mid 1980s until the mid 1990s, when they were displaced by shaped carving skis.
