Overview
These Fischer skis were made for downhill racing. They were supplied to racing teams, not the general public. They have exceptionally thin steel edges, a distinctive hole at the tip, and are some of the longest downhill race skis ever built. Similar versions are still used today.
The bindings on these skis show the full evolution of release mechanisms. The heel unit incorporates an adjustable release system should the skier fall. The toe unit provides considerable shock-absorbing qualities before releasing at a pre-determined setting.
These particular skis were used in New Zealand by the donor's sons at Turoa skifield, Mt Ruapehu.
