Overview
This sample of wallpaper is part of a larger collection that came from an interior decorating business in Wellington started by Gordon Weeber in 1919, and carried on by his son Ray into the 1970s.
It was made by Wallpapers Manufacturers Ltd (WPM), founded in 1899 when 31 British wallpaper manufacturers joined forces. The WPM quickly came to dominate the market with its mass-produced and affordable papers.
Floral and leaf patterns with autumn tints like this one were popular in many New Zealand homes in the 1930s.
