Overview
This used Copper-7 intrauterine device (IUD) was collected by Dame Margaret Sparrow during her career as a Family Planning doctor in Wellington, New Zealand.
She collected it partly to assess how it had performed. This particular IUD has suffered distortion of its arm.
The Copper-7 IUD was used in New Zealand from 1974 to 1986, when it was withdrawn because of lawsuits.
