This used Multiload Cu250 intrauterine device (IUD) was collected by Dame Margaret Sparrow during her career as a Family Planning doctor in Wellington, New Zealand.
She collected it partly to assess how it had performed. This particular device was inserted in 1990. By the time it was removed in 2000, it had lost most of its copper.
